Mexican artists have long been known for their vivid imagination and use of vibrant colors, along with folkloric tales, pagan and religious beliefs to create wondrous and mythical creatures and artwork to share with the world, raging from crude wooden figures to the grandest of murals. Their knowledge and indigenous methods of creating and blending colors from natural plants and animals and shells are astounding as well as the use of raw aw and natural materials that Mexico abounds with. Mexico has proudly given the world some of its most famous artists including the coloring artists such as grand master Diego Fivera and his infamous wife Frida Kalo.

One of the unique experiences of eating at Cholo's is to marvel at all the artwork and handcrafts from different regions of Mexico on display. They are there to adorn the walls but most are for sale also. Having traveled extensively in Mexico, Nancy became intrigued by the amount of time energy and work spent on the craftsmanship of the work created in the country, and began to collect items, many items, and was soon selling them to friends and family.

When Cholo's Homestyle opened its doors it seemed like the perfect showcase for the interesting, excellent type of artwork created throughout Mexico. The type of crafts and art seen at Cholo's are all from cottage industries and bought directly from the artists and hand picked. The owner has been friendly with many of the carvers and weavers for years and all the pieces are unique. The walls are always changing as Nancy travels to Mexico three times a year so there is always something new to see. Take a little bit of cool’s home.
